Since 1997, HawkWatch International has conducted an annual count of all raptors (birds of prey) migrating through Corpus Christi each fall. On average, the team of biologists counts over 500,000 raptors each year between August 1-November 15. The HawkWatch is also the site of a free annual event, the Celebration of Flight, which takes place during the peak of the fall migration season.
