The 1,217 acre Nature Preserve at Charlie's Pasture was created to conserve the native plants, birds, and wildlife of Mustang Island.  The Preserve has a 1 mile ADA accessible hiking trail from the Pavilion to the Community Park with observation decks to enjoy the wildife of the area.  The mash, tidal flat, and upland habitats are an important stop for migratory birds on their flights to and from South America.  It is also home to many types of birds that winter in the mild climate of the island.
