Fred Jones Nature Sanctuary is located near Portland TX and is CTC 074 on the Great Texas Birding Trail. It is an important stopover point for transgulf migrants and wintering grassland birds. It's nine acres includes hiking trails, a pavilion and wildlife viewing areas. There is no parking lot and visitors must park along Country Road 69E. It is located on the north edge of Nueces Bay, surrounded by farmland and is managed by the Audubon Outdoor Club of Corpus Christi.
