Come along with us to view birds at the Big Tree Natural Area!
What will you see beyond the Big Tree? Join us for a bird walk in an area of the park that is otherwise closed to the public. We'll observe birds in a variety of habitats including live oak forests, coastal prairies, marshes, and bay shorelines. We may even be lucky enough to see an endangered Whooping Crane!
Registration: The electric tram is currently down for repairs. No registration required at this time.
When: Fridays from 8:30-11:00 A.M.
Where: Meet at the Day Use parking lot. After introductions, you'll caravan in your own vehicle out to Big Tree.
*There are no facilities available at the Big Tree Natural Area.
Bring: Binoculars, water, comfortable walking shoes, bug repellant, camera, and weather-appropriate clothing. The park has loaner binoculars available while supplies last.
FYI:
- Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program.
- Program is free with park entrance ($5/person, children 12 & under are free) or Texas State Parks Annual Pass.
- Reserving your day pass in advance is strongly encouraged and can be done at TexasStateParks.ReserveAmerica.com. Use self-pay station when office is closed.
