Description:

Everyone knows to check their temperature when their ill, but how do you know when a coral is feeling under the weather? Turns out you can check its color! Dr. Keisha Bahr and her team have developed a coral health assessment card that allows them to quantify coral bleaching, assess coral resilience and educate the community about its impact. All of this took place in Hawai'i and the results of this work have been integrated into management strategies for local state agencies.

Join preserve staff inside our classroom to learn about corals and how this effort was integrated into management practices. Dr. Keisha Bahr is an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. She is also excited to share her more local findings from the Gulf of Mexico - it has to do with cryptic corals!
