Description:

It's migration season! What birds will you see at Goose Island?

Join volunteer Bob Showler in search of Goose Island's wintering birds. We'll start at the day-use picnic area parking lot, and caravan to a few birding hotspots across the park.

You can expect to learn about and identify birds seen on the route. Bob has been volunteering with the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, and we're excited to add more birding opportunities for everyone!

This program does NOT utilize the tram, so there will be some walking. No registration is required. This program is for both novice and experienced birders.

Bring: Binoculars, water, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, a camera (optional), and weather-appropriate clothing. The park offers a limited number of binoculars for loan, but it's best to bring your own.

When: 8:30-11:00am.

Where: Meet at the day-use picnic area parking lot. Be prepared to caravan, or ride with other visitors.

FYI:
- Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. Children under two years of age must be seated on the lap of a guardian.
- Program is free with park entrance ($5/person, children 12 & under are free) or Texas State Parks Annual Pass.
- Large groups please contact Sara Rock for a private event.
- Program may be cancelled if no participants are present within 10 minutes of the start time, or in the case of inclement weather.
